A collage of Nova Scotian-based businesses, clients and partners that A Team Coaching worked with in 2025
The year’s not over yet. But the shift in season and longer, darker days has us leaning into reflection mode as we look back on 2025.
For us, this means taking stock of the incredible organizations that have made our work possible. The partners and clients who have committed to growth, equity, and more just approaches to existing in our current state of the world, and who have taught us so much along the way.
We want to highlight just a few of the organizations we’ve had the privilege of working alongside recently and what this has meant for A Team! (There will be more to come).
Neptune Theatre
Where do we begin? This has been a partnership that blended learning, creativity, and community in such a meaningful way. Having the honour of welcoming Jude Gerrard as a knowledge holder and first voice to guide teachings rooted in our collective commitment to Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) was an experience that left a lasting impact.
This collaboration reflected what authentic engagement looks like when you create space for truth, dialogue, and artistry to come together. Participating as an active listener through PACT (Professional Association of Canadian Theatres) allowed me to witness how art, storytelling, and language can be powerful tools for education and healing. It reminded me that when learning meets creativity, and when truth meets expression, we find connection. Working with Neptune Theatre was emotional and an inspiring reminder of how culture and collaboration move us all forward.
Maggie’s Place
If you haven’t heard of Maggie’s Place, it might be time to take a trip to Truro. Maggie’s exists to support families, community connection, and capacity building. Working with them has offered us an opportunity to co-learn, co-create, and build together. Through our sessions, we explored ways to expand understanding of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA), while reviewing policies and practices to ensure equitable processes are truly embedded in the organization’s foundation.
Sometimes, as a non-profit, it’s hard to make the time and space to do this with intention. But what many don’t realize is that this kind of reflection is like reinforcing the foundation of a house. It makes everything else more stable, lasting, and livable. What stood out most was the organization’s willingness to engage in honest reflection, ask courageous questions, and embrace change with compassion and curiosity.
This kind of partnership is what makes being a small business so meaningful. It’s about relationships, growth, and shared accountability. It’s about standing beside organizations like Maggie’s Place as they strengthen their capacity to serve, lead, and create spaces of belonging.
The Portal
The Portal is responsible for hosting the Cultural Connector Initiative to ensure organizations are prepared to offer informed and culturally grounded support to African Nova Scotians. Over the past year, working with The Portal team has been fun and inspirational. They’ve come ready to do the work, to name the gaps, address barriers, and, most importantly, listen to first voices who guide their mission. Together, we’ve engaged in honest reflection and built strategies that center race, gender, equity, and accountability.
What I appreciate most about this group is their holistic approach. They planned for continuous learning for all staff, not just leadership. And their leadership team didn’t just endorse the work, they’ve embodied it by taking insights forward into policy and process. This commitment to growth and inclusion is what creates lasting impact, both internally and across the communities being served. There’s still more to come as The Portal continues to grow and evolve, and I’m excited for the next chapter of our collaboration.
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
This partnership began through a kind referral from P4G, something I’m deeply grateful for. As an entrepreneur, I truly admire when small businesses uplift one another, not out of self-interest, but out of a shared commitment to collective progress and meaningful work.
From our very first meeting, Kris and Tricia, it felt as though we had already been working together for years. There was an immediate sense of trust, respect, and shared purpose. You welcomed honest dialogue, embraced feedback and critique with openness, and stayed focused not on quick fixes but on doing the work right with integrity, intention, and care.
Your approach to building policy that centers those who have been harmed while also fostering accountability and learning for those who caused harm is both courageous and necessary. I’m genuinely excited for what’s ahead and the impact we’ll continue to create together in supporting physicians to learn, grow, and lead with empathy.
NS Regulatory Network
It’s been inspiring to work with the Nova Scotia Regulatory Network to offer training centered around cultural humility and bias. We connected with so many dedicated health professionals as they began, or deepened, their journeys toward more equitable and inclusive practices in healthcare. What made this collaboration especially powerful was seeing 11 health regulators come together with a shared commitment: to review their policies through an equity lens and foster systems that better reflect the communities they serve. This meant sharing practices, deepening commitments to accountability, and inviting us into the process early. The openness, reflection, and relationship-building that emerged from this work gives me great hope, and I look forward to future opportunities to collaborate and continue this important learning together.
Marge Communications
Supporting us along the way as we grow as a business is Margaret, (affectionately, Marge)! Her leadership, empathy, and unwavering ability to capture the voices and spirit of our entire A Team is truly a gift. Through Black Girl Pillow Talk, Mind & Muscle, and now as we grow and expand with A Team Unites, her vision continues to breathe life into our shared purpose. This journey, the impact, the innovation, and the heart behind our work is only possible because of the trust, honesty, and respect we have for her and she has for us. She shows up with authenticity and grace, creating space for every voice to be heard and every idea to take root. Learning alongside Marge has been and continues to be a privilege. She is a daily reminder that when we lead with love and integrity, we build something far greater than ourselves. We build community, a true legacy of faith, family, and friends.
And these are just a few of the incredible organizations in our orbit. There are many more making a difference every day, and many others we are in the seedling phase of projects with, that we can’t wait to bring to life soon!
When partnerships align on shared purpose, anything is possible.
Our growth as a business has always been rooted in connection, walking alongside organizations that are ready to listen, to learn, and to lead differently.
Through partnerships like the ones we’ve shared here, we’ve seen how courageous conversations, cultural humility, and collective accountability can shift systems and create lasting impact.
Every project has strengthened our capacity to learn, grow, and collaborate. This is what inspires us – the growth expanding from a small family-led initiative into a dynamic collective that continues to build leaders, transform workplaces, and inspire change across Nova Scotia and beyond.
Our story is one of growth through gratitude and learning from every organization, every person, and every opportunity to make equity real.
Together, we’re not just building a business; we’re building a legacy of leadership grounded in justice, empathy, and community.
Thank you for being in the work with us,
Angela
