Centering the JEDDI Lens in the Nova Scotian Legal Community

In Nova Scotia, the inclusion of a JEDDI lens is a necessity in our legal community as we continue to face and tackle systems that were not designed for us, and that, in some cases, continue to tighten their grip over access and fair outcomes.

I will always fight for the systems that impact our lives in real and lasting ways to be built with justice, dignity, and belonging at their core.

Recently partnering with the Legal Information Society of Nova Scotia (LISNS) was one way to do this – by helping spread information that can change how things have ‘always been done’.

I am thrilled to share that available through LISNS is now an enhanced FREE self-paced SHWP Training for Lawyers and Legal Professionals.

Advancing with JEDDI

This training is in support of the Safe at Work Free Legal Advice Program for those who experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. Now, this training also features critical modules on JEDDIA (which is where you will find my offerings), Working with Non-Binary and Trans Clients, and Client-Centered strategies. These new modules offer printable resources designed to inspire your practice. These additions reinforce LISNS’s foundational modules on Trauma-Informed Practice, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Plain Language.

I am grateful for the collaborative opportunity to help make the concepts of justice, equity, diversity, decolonization, inclusion, and accessibility applicable to those in the legal profession who are driven to see change. Thank you to Kelly Eagles and Tim Hogan for making this come together.

At A Team, we were one of several collaborators involved in enhancing this training offering. I want to extend sincere appreciation to Shila LeBlanc and Shae Morse for their thoughtful contributions and expertise as well. I have learned so much from your wisdom in terms of how to better and continue evolving my own justice practices.

Whether you are a lawyer, a paralegal, or a student, this training opportunity is designed to reinforce a human-centered approach to legal service. I hope you take a moment to expand your learning with us!
